The story is set at a prestigious, but rigid and repressive school called Instituto Vidal. Its strict owner, Julia Vidal, was once kind but has now turned into a bitter woman following the death of her husband and her daughter, Lauriel. Her granddaughter, Ana, a very sweet and intelligent 10 year old, also has been affected by the death: She has been rendered virtually speechless by the trauma, though she expresses herself through music and possesses an extraordinary ability to move objects with her mind. The story of three children in Sattahip of different backgrounds that became friends; Puchong, a Thai boy, Jimmy, a Korean-American boy and Muay, a Chinese girl. One day while exploring, they impulsively take a hearse going to Bangkok. There, they fall in the hands of various different adults, and learn the sad truth of the adult world.

The threesome who lend reason to the title are Aravindan (Jayaram), Chandu (Mukesh) and Joy (Sreenivasan). They value friendship over everything else, even family, and for this reason, Chandu resists the advances of Aravindan's sister Uma (Divya Unni). When the trio take up a painter's job at a mansion, Aravindan falls in love with Padmini (Meena), who lives there and Padmini's jealous cousin makes him believe that his overtures are reciprocated. When the truth is revealed and Padmini rejects him outright, Chandu stands up for his friend and speaks ill of her. This makes her swear to separate the friends.

A man values his best friend more than anything else in the world. One day he confesses a dark secret from their childhood to his wife, which is overheard by another. Once the secret gets out, the friendship is destroyed.
